Butter Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
2. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until they are browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
3. Push the chicken to one side of the skillet and add the butter to the empty space. Once melted, add all of the spices (garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, chili powder, ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom) to the butter. Stir the spices for about 30 seconds to release their flavors.
4. Mix the chicken with the spices and add the can of diced tomatoes. Stir to combine everything well.
5. Lower the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and let the chicken simmer for 15 minutes.
6. After 15 minutes, stir in the heavy cream and let the chicken cook for an additional 5 minutes.
7. Taste the sauce and add salt, if needed.
8. Serve the butter chicken over rice or with naan bread, garnished with fresh cilantro, if desired.
Enjoy your homemade butter chicken, made with just a few simple ingredients and a lot of flavorful spices.
